Metcheck is a weather forecasting
service which caters for all of your outdoor interests and hobbies.
Whether you are an avid astronomer, fisherman, gardener, mountain
climber, skier, or interested in any other outdoor activity, you
can find the necessary weather information to plan for your activity. You may just be interested in weather and what the jet stream is currently doing and what it's current and predicted position is. After all, the jet stream and its position is what determines our weather conditions in a major way. The weather forecasters rely on this information, to try and predict the weather conditions for the next few days in the U.K. and yet they continue to refuse to include this information on TV, although it is always shown in U.S. weather forecasts, and has been for many years. The response as to why this information is not included is because it is felt that the people in the U.S. have grown up with it, and have already been educated about its impact. Now I don't know about you, but that attitude really "ticks me off". I'm 53 years old now and was born and raised in the States. In the 60's we didn't have the resources such as weather satellites, or the number of reporting stations that we have today. The internet did not exist. The ability to transmit an image by facsimile was in its infancy, limited to black and white, and would take up to a half an hour to print out a single page. The quality was extremely poor by today's standards, but that was "cutting edge technology" back then. As technology progresses, people learn to accept and understand it So stop treating us as though we are stupid. Most of us want to know much more than what is happening with the "Spice Girls", or "Big Brother"! If I just offended you with my last comment then I honestly do not know why you are here anyway, you don't have a real life, and should not be interested in the weather or the science behind it. Now that I've "Vented my spleen" again, I do have to say that I admire what these guys are doing. They have put a lot of work into their site, and it is extremely easy to navigate. Just type your post code in the search box at the top of the page, or click here to go to their home page. I apologise if I sound like a grumpy 'old fart'!! Lately though, I feel like I would make Victor Meldrew look like a pussy-cat. |
